What is it?

Organised by West Midlands road racing, this is a race within a race. This National B road race is open to all but riders from the West Midlands and Central regions also have the opportunity to compete for divisional honours.

Route

The course will be familiar to readers who read our Solihull CC Road Race preview as the race uses the same 22.4km Inkberrow circuit. The roads are undulating with 224 metres of elevation per lap. With 5.9 laps to tackle, the race is distance is 132 km.

Riders to watch

The race has attracted a strong, deep field.

Clay Davies (Ride Revolution Coaching), winner of the Hackney CC road race, was third in last weekend’s Sherpa Performance Stage Race, and is suited to the flat-ish parcours here.

Josh Housley (HUUB BCC RT) took his first National B road race win this year at the London Dynamo Summer Road Race and will be looking to add to his collection this weekend. Jordan Giles (Richardsons Trek DAS) is another Nat road race winner this year, his latest victory coming last month at the Plymouth Corinthian CC Summer Road Race.

Yorkshiremanย Dylan Westley (Saint Piran), victor at the Wally Gimber Trophy this year, brings some UCI Continental experience to the startlist. Thrive-SRCT’s William Truelove had an excellent National Circuit Series in 2024 and will be looking for his first Nat B road race win of the year to continue a fine season.

Oliver Hucks (TAAP Kalas) sits 7th in our national road race rankings after an incredibly consistent season. Expect another top ten from him. John Archibald (HUUB Wattshop) animated the early season National B road races, grabbing second places at the Danum Trophy and the Drummond Trophy, before focusing on his speciality of time trialling.

Others to watch include 2023 Rร s stage winner Conor McGoldrick (Richardsons Trek DAS), Oliver Hurdle (StolenGoat RT), and Bernard Galea (SPRNT).
