What is it?

An Open National B road race that incorporates the West Midlands and Central Regional Championships but is open to all riders.

Route

Situated halfway between Worcester and Stratford-upon-Avon, the route incorporates 5.9 laps of the sporting 22 kilometre Inkberrow circuit, with a total race distance of 132km.

The circuit is a relatively flat affair compared to many National B road races, with an uphill drag in the run-up to the finish line, which should help those looking to make a decisive move in the race finale.

This race uses a new finish line for the circuit, located on the B4088, shortly before the left turn onto the A422.

Riders to watch

A number of riders stand out among a quality field. David Hird (Cycling Sheffield) finished fourth overall at the 360cycling Tour of the North West last weekend, and with results such as sixth at the Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix and third at the Stars of the South West road race, he stands out as one of the favourites.

Oliver Hucks (TAAP Kalas) has had a consistent season, seemingly always there or thereabouts, with second at the PNE Nat B road race and third at the Jock Wadley Memorial road race his best results in 2024.

Richardsons Trek DAS pairing Conor McGoldrick and Jordan Giles arrive at the race with the tough Rás Tailteann in their legs. McGoldrick, a former Rás stage winner, has two second places this year in Nat B road races without quite taking a win, while Giles won the Royal Navy Cup at the beginning of the season.

Like McGoldrick, Clay Davies (Ride Revolution) has two second places in Nat B road races to his name so far and this course will suit him. You could probably put a safe bet on John Archibald (HUUB WattShop) being in the break at some point during the race, the Scottish tester another rider who has two second places in Nat B road races to his name in 2024.

William Truelove (Thriva-SRCT) finished second at the Yorkshire Under-23 Classic this season and tenth at the Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix in May suggests he has the form to get a top result this weekend.

Finally, young Ben Pierce (Bridgnorth CC) proved his second place at the PB Performance Espoirs road race was no fluke when he finished fifth overall at the 360cycling Tour of the North West last Sunday.
