The third edition of the Clive Tiley Memorial takes this place this weekend, the final National B stage race of the season.

What is it?
Organised by Bristol Cycling Development Squad, the Clive Tiley Memorial stage race was first run in 2022 in honour of Clive Tiley, a popular commissaire in the South Region for road, circuit and cyclocross races who passed away in 2022. The winners of the first two editions were Oscar Hutchings and Ross Fawcett.
The race is run alongside the long-standing Fenwick’s Tour of the Mendip, an important junior stage race which is part of the Junior National Road Series.
The stages
Friday 9 August | Stage 1
The stage race begins with a road bike time trial at the Odd Down Cycling Circuit near Bath. Each rider takes on 8 laps of the circuit, with a total distance of approximately 13.2 km.
Saturday 10 August | Stage 2
Stage 2, known as the Sprinters’ Stage, takes in nine full laps – plus a neutralised section of the Rifleman’s Road Course on the top of the Mendip Hills near Priddy.
Sunday 11 August | Stage 3
Stage 3 if typically the Climber’s Stage. However, roadworks on the course used for this stage have forced the organisers to use the Stage 2 course again, effectively meaning that Stage 3 will be a re-run of Stage 2.
Riders to watch
The organisers tell us that the course change resulted in several riders pulling out of the race either because they really wanted the climbing stage or because of the general uncertainty about whether the race would go ahead.

The startlist is therefore slim but nonetheless contains a number of quality riders, most notably Gabriel Dellar (StolenGoat RT) winner of the Bec CC Road Race and the Totnes Vire stage race earlier this year.
Ben Pease (Moonglu RT) is another stage race victor this year having won the inaugural CAMS Ronde van Wymeswold | YBC x UON in June. Tom Williams (Thriva-SRCT) is another rider to watch, winner of the Yorkshire Under-23 Classic earlier this season.
Look out too for Samuel Nisbet (Reflex Racing) who took a wily win on stage 1 of the 360Cycling Tour of the Northwest. 2022 winner Oscar Hutchings (Schils – Doltcini RT) also starts.
