The two-day, three-stage Ronde returns on new courses this weekend, with Edward Morgan back to defend the open title and the women’s race certain to crown a new winner.
Emma Jeffers (Liv AlUla Jayco CT) and Matthew Bostock (Rapha Cycling Club) won the women’s and open races at Colne on Tuesday, 16 June, the opening round of the National Circuit Series, to take the early lead in both standings.
Three days after the City of London Nocturne, the Lloyds National Circuit Series opens in Colne — with Rapha Super-League leaders Morven Yeoman and Tom Armstrong among a deep field on the town’s fast 830-metre circuit, and Matias Malmberg back to defend the open title.
Adam Hartley won the Mennock Pass Stage Race overall on Sunday (14 June), overturning a seven-second overnight deficit on the queen stage to take the general classification by 2 seconds. Noah Bleteau (Team All Cycles Meaux) won the stage with a solo attack on the final climb to Wanlockhead, but it was Hartley’s chase behind him that settled the race. For a rider who walked away from the sport in 2019, it was quite a return.
