Melanie Rowe survived a late charge from Eleanor Dixon and Lydia Louw to take the Scottish senior and junior women’s titles, while Sam Barbour led home a Cycling Sheffield one-two in the open championship on the Drumclog circuit outside Strathaven.
Three national titles are decided at Strathaven on Saturday, on the Drumclog roads that have belonged to the Drummond Trophy since the 1950s. Tim Shoreman heads the open field; in the women’s race, a 17-year-old who was second at a National A last weekend can win two jerseys in an afternoon.
Archie Wright spent an hour alone on Saturday to lead by nearly two minutes, before Curtis Neill took over four minutes out of him on Sunday’s four ascents of Harptree Hill to win the general classification by 59 seconds.
