Our team

Almost everything on The British Continental is done unpaid, fitted around jobs, families and, for some, their own racing. These are the people who report, photograph and record British domestic road racing.

The team

Founder and editor

Denny Gray

Started The British Continental as a blog in November 2018 because the racing he cared about went unreported. Still writes, commissions and edits most of what appears here.

Writer

Jack Beavis

Writing for The British Continental since 2023. Interviews, features and race reports that find the story beneath the result, from the Clayton Spring Classic in February to the Nocturne in June.

Reporter and photographer

Joe Hudson

Our reporter-in-chief. Joe has covered the domestic calendar for The British Continental since 2020, often with a camera over his shoulder, and in 2025 reported from every National Road Series round.

Photographer

Mark James

Behind the lens at races from the Jock Wadley in March to the National Hill Climb in October. More than a hundred of our reports have carried Mark’s pictures since 2024.

Stats Hub

Martyn Jepson

Martyn built the Stats Hub and keeps it running: results, rankings and race histories for the domestic calendar, and the memory behind much of what we write.

Contributors

Writer

Paul Greenhalgh

Paul joined in 2026 and brings an Anglo-French angle: the British riders making a life in the French amateur scene, and the racing that crosses the Channel in both directions.

Beyond the names above is a much wider circle, and the site would not exist without it: the photographers who let us use their pictures from races we cannot get to; the riders who answer a message after a hard day; the managers and organisers who pick up the phone and keep putting races on; the people who send in a race report, grab an interview at a finish line or simply share what we publish. The British Continental is a community effort, and always has been.

Rider journals

The 2026 journals: honest accounts from inside the domestic scene, by four riders and one team manager.

INEOS Grenadiers Racing Academy

Mattie Dodd

Journals since 2023, from a first season in Austria to a first UCI win and the Tour de l’Avenir with the INEOS Grenadiers Racing Academy.

London Academy

Hope Inglis

Races under-23 across road, cyclo-cross and mountain bike around a degree and a placement, and sits on British Cycling’s Road Commission.

BCC Race Team

George Stephen

Under-23 with BCC Race Team and a student at Nottingham. His journal is about the riders the results do not show.

camsmajaco

Ian Mansel-Thomas

Co-manages camsmajaco, the mixed junior super-team, with Giles Pidcock, and writes about the agents and European teams circling British juniors.

Edinburgh Bike Fitting Race Team

Tizzie Robinson-Gordon

Edinburgh-based, with a full-time job, a soigneur’s role at Edinburgh Bike Fitting Race Team and her own racing on the Scottish scene, all in one journal.
