The Upton 200 road race was abandoned on Sunday 18 June after a collision between two cars on the course.
The accident happened 3 laps into the 20-lap race but happened on a different part of the course to the race itself, so no riders or officials were involved.
Thankfully, nobody involved in the incident itself sustained injuries.
It was not possible to resume the race so the event was cancelled. The race organisers, the Yomp Bonk Crew, put out the following statement:
The weekend’s other National B road race, the London Dynamo Summer Road Race, also suffered from late cancellation as a result of unanticipated roadworks on the course.
