camsmajaco name eight for 2027 junior men’s squad

Milo and Sam de la Mare and Daniel Davies stay on for a second junior season, joined by five riders stepping up from youth racing. Seven riders, Leon Atkins among them, age out to the under-23 ranks.

camsmajaco have named eight riders for their 2027 junior men’s squad. Three stay on from this season, the twins Milo and Sam de la Mare and Daniel Davies, and five step up from youth racing. The team announced the line-up on Instagram on Thursday evening, thanking CAMS, majaco and Netcompany INEOS.

The programme was formed for 2026 from the merger of Fensham Howes–MAS Design and Tofauti Everyone Active Majaco, and races with backing from the INEOS WorldTeam. A large turnover was always coming: all seven riders leaving were born in 2008 and move up to the under-23 ranks next season.

The team’s first season was overshadowed by the death of Shane O’Brien. The 16-year-old from Fermoy, Co Cork, formerly of Fermoy CC, had made his debut for Ireland at the Course de la Paix in the Czech Republic and was preparing for the national championships when he died in a crash while training near Lismore, Co Waterford, on 16 June. camsmajaco described him at the time as “a kind-hearted, gentle and positive young man.” At the Classic Région Sud races in the Hautes-Alpes at the end of that month, which was to have been his next race with the team, his team-mates wore black armbands, the organiser held a minute’s silence at the team presentation, and camsmajaco left his place in the line-up unfilled.

On the road, the de la Mares were the team’s most consistent stage racers this summer. Milo finished eighth overall at the Ain Bugey Valromey Tour in July and won the classification for first-year juniors, in a race won by Benjamín Noval, the Spaniard Netcompany INEOS have signed for 2027. Sam was 10th overall at Aubel-Thimister-Stavelot in August and, a week later, second overall at the Ronde des Vallées in Brittany, one minute 20 seconds behind Alex Botha of Hot Tubes, INEOS’s American junior partner team, with team-mate Gus Dutton third.

Davies was 10th at the ANEXO/CAMS Junior CiCLE Classic in March, sixth in the time trial at the Ronde des Vallées, and the team’s best finisher, in 22nd, at the national junior road race in July.

Three of the five newcomers arrive as national champions. Finlay Burns (GKR Racing) won the Youth A title at the British Cycling National Youth Omnium Finals in July, taking the elimination and sprint races to beat Jack Barden-Beatty by four points. Alex Goodwill, who has ridden for Preston Park Youth Cycling Club since under-8s, won the National Youth Circuit Championships at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough, in June.

Tom Lane, from Cork, is the Irish under-16 champion. He swept the time trial, road race and criterium titles in his age group at the 2025 Irish youth championships, and this summer won an under-16 kermesse at Voortkape in Antwerp province by more than a minute. Darragh Murphy and Oliver Williams complete the intake.

Leon Atkins, the junior national time trial champion, leaves for Lidl–Trek Future Racing, the development team he is set to join as a first-year under-23. Aaron Cocker won the Cadence Junior Road Race in April, with Dutton third, and Dutton was later selected for the junior road race at the world championships in Montréal. Albie Jones took silver in the junior individual pursuit at the national junior track championships this summer. Alex Coles, Harley Widdowson and Milo Wills, the cyclocross specialist who was 13th in the junior race at the world championships in Hulst in February, also move up. Where those six will race in 2027 has not yet been announced.

It leaves the de la Mares and Davies, second-year juniors next season, as the experienced core of a largely new squad.
