2026 Fenwick’s Women’s Tour of Mendip: preview and startlist
Fourteen riders will contest the final round of the Junior Women's National Road Series above Priddy on Saturday 1 August, with Mabli Phillips arriving as the newly crowned junior national road race champion.
Saturday afternoon on the plateau above Priddy brings the final round of the Junior Women’s National Road Series, and with it a national title to settle over 79 kilometres and six laps of exposed high ground.
Mabli Phillips lines up in the champion’s jersey she won above Harrogate in July; Sannah Zaman brings a UCI Continental licence to a National B field. Fourteen riders are on the startlist, and Bristol Cycling Development Squad deserve credit for putting the race on regardless.

The Fenwick’s Women’s Tour of Mendip is a National B women’s race for E/1/2/3 riders, promoted by Bristol Cycling Development Squad and backed by Fenwick’s Bike Products. Round 3 of the Junior Women’s National Road Series—the last of three—is run inside it, so juniors race a mixed senior field and contest their own classification within it, the same arrangement used at the London Academy Easter Road Race in April.
The race starts at 14:00 on Saturday 1 August over 79 kilometres, with Steve Marshall organising. It is not the only thing on: the Mendip Open Road Race, a Regional A event and a counting round of the South League, uses the same circuit that morning, and the junior open Fenwick’s Tour of Mendip returns to the same roads for three days from 14 August.
The date has not helped the entry; we understand it was allocated before either the National Youth and Junior Track Championships or this weekend’s British Women’s Team Cup round were on the calendar. Entries have since reopened online, and entry on the line will be available on Saturday at £46; riders wanting to ride can contact the organisers at stemars@juniortourofthemendips.org.
Route
Six laps of the Rifleman’s course, the road circuit on the Mendip plateau near Priddy, for 79 kilometres—a shade over 12 a lap.
The circuit’s character is in that number. This is exposed ground on narrow roads, and with 14 starters there is no bunch to hide in. A field this size on a circuit this short tends to come apart early and stay apart on this rolling terrain. The riders face just under 700m of elevation in total.
There are primes at the end of laps two and four, scored 6-4-3-2-1 for a separate trophy, and British Cycling’s listing confirms a sprints prize within the junior classification as well as the overall.
Saturday’s forecast is mild by recent standards, around 21C on the tops with little chance of rain.
Riders to watch
Mabli Phillips (Shibden Apex RT) will start in the national champion’s jersey. The 18-year-old Welsh rider won the junior women’s national road race title above Harrogate on 5 July in the manner that defines her: almost a minute down on Megan Cherry with a lap to go, she attacked alone out of a stalled bunch, hauled the gap back in stages and rode straight past. That followed 3rd at the junior national time trial two days earlier, 3rd on GC at Witham Hall in April, and 6th at the Clásica de Jaén junior Nations Cup in February.

Sannah Zaman (O’Shea Red Chilli Bikes) is the only UCI Continental rider entered and the obvious answer for the outright National B win, as distinct from the series. The 22-year-old has spent 2026 on a European programme with the O’Shea squad—Brabantse Pijl, the Grand Prix du Morbihan, the Grand Prix Féminin de Chambéry, the Alpes Grésivaudan Classic—and she has ridden this exact ground before. In 2021, as a junior with Panagua CC, she was the only rider outside Tofauti Everyone Active to make the five-rider break that formed on the first climb out of this same headquarters at the inaugural junior women’s Tour of Mendip.
Lili-Keau Juntakereket (Paralloy RT) took the senior Welsh road race title at Llandrindod Wells in 2025, finishing 3rd on the road behind Phillips. She is Paralloy’s only entry, and on a circuit that rewards riders willing to commit early rather than wait for a sprint that may never assemble, going alone is the more logical play.
The numbers, such as they are, belong to Brother UK–On Form and Liv Cycling Club–Halo Films, who bring three riders each. Liv are Bristol-based and effectively racing at home; Brother UK’s Abi Clayton also appears on the startlist for the Duncan Murray Wines Road Race in Northamptonshire the following afternoon. Shibden Apex RT have two, with Aelwen Davies alongside Phillips. Everyone else is here alone.
