UCI Continental teams

Britain had just two UCI Continental men’s teams in 2024, down from six in 2019. There haven’t been so few men’s teams at that level in Britain since 2007, when the Plowman Craven – Evans Cycles Racing Team and Recycling.co.uk were the UK’s UCI-level squads. This number could drop to zero in 2025, however, with the news that both TRINITY Racing and Saint Piran will close. The Tanfield brothers were racing to create a new UCI Continental team in time for 2025 but the latest news is that this daring move won’t come off.

Saint Piran

Ricci Pascoe’s Cornish Saint Piran has folded. The team, founded in 2018 to develop Cornish cycling talent, cited a tough 2024 season, negative media coverage, and sponsorship challenges as reasons for the decision. The news leaves some of Britain’s top domestic riders scrambling for new teams, with many now facing an uncertain future. It is understood that some contracts had already been issued for 2025, and the team was in talks with British Cycling about integrating Academy riders into its roster. The closure adds to the mounting challenges for British riders, who have already seen opportunities shrink amid rising competition abroad and financial difficulties at home.

TRINITY Racing

TRINITY Racing helped launch the careers of many British talents over the last few years including Tom Pidcock, Tom Gloag, Luke Lamperti, Ben Healy and Ben Turner, among many others. However, the team will close at the end of 2024, leaving many young riders scrabbling for contracts.

Elite Development Teams

British Cycling’s Elite Development Team status is designed to ‘bridge the gap from club teams to those operating at UCI Continental level’. Only teams which meet a set minimum criterion are selected, based on the quality of support which they offer to their riders.

360 Cycling

360 Cycling is set to double its Under-23 team size to ten riders in 2025, aiming to reshape rider development in the North West. Their ambitious race calendar includes the British Under-23 National Road Series, National and Regional A & B races, French National events, and UCI road races in Germany and France.

Key riders like Maxwell Hereward and John Bardsley lead the expanded squad, which also features promising talents such as Junior 25-Mile TT Champion Aidan Worden and former Zappi Racing rider Joe Watkins-Wilson.

BCC Race Team

Entering its second season as an Elite Development Team, BCC Race Team builds on a solid foundation of nurturing young talent. Based in the East Midlands, the team leads a pathway supporting over 40 riders from under-14s to seniors, with teamwork and development at its core.

The 2025 squad is headlined by marquee signing Alex Ball, one of Britain’s brightest prospects, and includes rising stars like Will Salter and Lewis Tinsley. New recruits Theo Anderson and Toby Bush join returning riders in a youthful, ambitious lineup. The team targets the National Road and Circuit Series, the U23 National Series, and select European races, aiming to animate events with teamwork and passion.

Off the bike, BCC drives its #raceforpositivechange ethos through partnerships with the University of Derby and Nottinghamshire charity Switch Up, using cycling as a platform to support young people and promote education.

With key departures like Josh Housley and Adam Kenway marking the end of an era, the team is poised to grow into a stronger, smarter unit, ready to leave a mark on and off the road.

Cycling Sheffield

A cornerstone of Britain’s domestic cycling scene, Cycling Sheffield continues to shine as a top-tier development team. Nominated for the Team of the Year at the British Conti Awards 2024, the squad had a stellar season with six National B wins and four riders securing contracts in France. For 2025, Dave Coulson’s team resets with a youthful eight-man lineup, including six new riders.

The squad features promising talents like Nathan Smith, a climber with a standout junior season, James Sawyers, a Junior Tour of Wales stage winner, and Denholm Edwards, who brings international race experience. Returning riders Sam Chaplin and Alex Foster will guide the newcomers while continuing their own progression. Coulson’s emphasis remains on long-term development, preparing riders for professional careers through a mix of domestic and European racing.

With a tight-knit roster and a focus on mentorship, Cycling Sheffield balances results with development, ensuring riders are equipped to take the next step in their careers.

MucOff – SRCT – Storck

Muc-Off-SRCT-Storck (formerly Thriva-SRCT) enters 2025 with a renewed focus and expanded ambitions. Established in 2022 by British motorsport racer Scott Redding, the team combines domestic road racing priorities with a growing international programme. Backed by sponsors Muc-Off, Storck, and Signature Payment, the team will compete in UK National A and B races, the National Circuit Series, French Elite events, UCI 1.2 and 2.2 races, and a US racing block.

New recruits include Edward Morgan (Spectra Racing), Alex Beldon (TRINITY Racing), Adam Howell (VC Meudon), and Bermudian Conor White, while key riders such as Jake Jackson, Will Truelove, and Redding himself remain. The addition of Directeur Sportif Phil Maddocks brings valuable experience to support Team Manager Adam Ellis, who continues to lead the squad.

With a mix of road and gravel racing on the horizon, Muc-Off-SRCT-Storck aims to build on 2024 successes, including victories at the Ryedale Grasscrete Grand Prix and Yorkshire Under-23 Classic, as they take on their most ambitious season yet.

Team PB Performance

Run by Paul and Louise Bennett, Team PB Performance was created as an opportunity to promote their coaching business and create a vehicle to support rider development. They are determined to do things in ‘the right way for their riders’. “We focused on supporting the riders as individuals, getting to know them and ensuring the fundamentals were taken care of,” Louise told us back in 2020.

The outfit has two squads. An Elite Development Team (EDT) squad, which focuses primarily on national racing, and a ‘pathway to EDT’ squad which has a focus more on regional racing, providing a progression pathway for riders.

The team is keen to actively support the racing scene, putting on a round of the Under-23 Open National Road Series each year. This season’s PB Performance Espoirs Road Race is on 30 March.

Wheelbase CabTech Castelli

One of the most established elite development teams in the UK, Wheelbase CabTech Castelli enters 2025 as one of the most experienced squads left standing following the collapse of Saint Piran’s UCI Continental team and TRINITY Racing. While not looking to replace those teams, Wheelbase is set to play a major role in the reshaped domestic scene.

The team has retained seven key riders, including Rás Tailteann stage winner Tom Martin, National A podium finisher Thomas Armstrong, and powerful all-rounder Tim Shoreman, who claimed wins at Colne GP in 2023 and the Rás Tailteann final stage last season. Shoreman, in particular, is a rider to watch, with the potential to challenge for wins in any National Road Series race if he can balance his racing with a full-time chemical engineering internship.

Four new signings strengthen the team, led by James McKay, a regular National Road Series podium finisher who joins from Saint Piran and is expected to lead the squad in major one-day races. Also joining is Mitchel McLoughlin, a para-tandem pilot for the Irish Paralympic team, who will focus on National Circuit Series racing, and Dexter Leeming-Sykes, a former Lincoln GP top-ten finisher, returning after a season racing in France. First-year U23 Max Bufton, a promising talent from Tofauti Everyone Active, completes the lineup.

The team will prioritise the National Road Series and National Circuit Series while targeting select European races, including a stage race in Spain, the Rás Tailteann, and a summer block in Belgium kermesses. With Saint Piran no longer controlling the domestic scene, 2025 promises to be more open and unpredictable, a scenario that could work in Wheelbase’s favour.

Other elite teams

Edinburgh Bike Fitting RT

A new team on the Scottish scene, Edinburgh Bike Fitting RT is a student-led project founded by racer-turned-team-organiser Elijah Kwon. With the closure of The Cycling Academy at the end of 2024, Kwon saw young male Scottish riders struggling for structure and took matters into his own hands. Backed by Edinburgh Bike Fitting – where Kwon works part-time – the team aims to keep promising Scottish talent racing domestically while juggling university commitments.

The six-rider roster, including Kwon, Finn McHenry, Craig Paterson, Sam Chisolm, Sam Carrotte, and Angus Toms, epitomises the project’s ethos: providing a low-cost, low-barrier route to elite-level races. Riders receive free kit, funded race entries, and a supportive platform shaped around academic timetables. While their schedule focuses on the Alba Road Series and National B events early in the year, they’re eyeing bigger opportunities including European outings over the summer.

Edinburgh Bike Fitting RT’s mission is simple: help Scottish riders stay in the sport, prove themselves at top-tier events, and still make those Monday morning lectures.

Foran CT

Foran Cycling Team has announced it will carry forward its entire 2024 roster into the 2025 season. The team, founded in 2019 by Tom Quaid and Paul Lavelle of Foran Construction, is a unique collective of working professionals balancing their careers with competitive racing.

The squad is headlined by Dom Jackson, whose victory at the 2024 Rás Tailteann marked the team’s most successful season yet. Other notable riders include Charles Page, a seasoned UCI Continental-level competitor, and Ryan Christensen, formerly of Bolton Equities Black Spoke.

For 2025, Foran CT will focus on supporting the UK domestic racing scene, including National A events, while also maintaining a strong presence in Irish races like the Rás Mumhan and Rás Tailteann. The team remains committed to its culture of competitive yet approachable racing, emphasising the importance of grassroots support and camaraderie.

Mud Dock Racing

Mud Dock Racing, based in Bristol and launched in 2024, has outlined its ambitious plans for 2025. The team is expanding its elite men’s road squad, introducing a women’s road division, and targeting a mixed calendar of domestic and international races.

The men’s team has grown to ten riders, including returning team founders Charlie Parry, Will Jewitt, and Felix Skelton, and new additions like Galahad Bland (Team Tor 2000) and Mia Rutterford (Tofauti Everyone Active) headlines the women’s road team, which will focus on the National Series and potential European events.

New signings bolster the roster, including Galahad Bland (from Team Tor 2000), Will Deely (Southampton University), Lewis Whitcombe (unattached), and Tom Ashcroft (Pocomotion Road Club).

With its ethos of supporting riders at all levels, Mud Dock Racing remains committed to its grassroots connections and community-driven approach, while aiming to build its presence on UK and European racing circuits.

Moonglu Spatzwear RT

Established in 2022, Moonglu RT was initially formed to assist younger Moonglu Cycling Club members who had already started to race. Steadily growing over the last two seasons, the small Yorkshire-based team has punched above its weight, with Ben Pease’s victory in the 2024 CAMS Ronde van Wymeswold a particular highlight.

Moonglu have some new partners for 2025 that will be announced over the winter. The squad is developing too, with the team expanding from seven riders to eleven. All of the existing riders will continue with five new signings joining to bolster the squad, including former BC Academy Ross Birrell and promising first-year under-23 Joel Hurt. The team will continue to target the National Road Series and prominent National Bs, aiming to build on a successful 2024.

Primera-TeamJobs

Run by Jason Gault and sponsored by Primera Sport bike shop and the TeamJobs recruitment agency, the Poole-based team operated two squads in 2024: an elite squad made up of eight riders and a development squad focused on the lower road racing tiers.

The team has made a statement for 2025, revealing the signing of some of the most impressive riders on the domestic circuit in 2024 – Gabe Dellar, Bernard Galea and Josh Housley – as well as the highly experienced Steve Lampier, who returned to racing in 2024. The squad is already shaping up to be one of the strongest domestic teams next season.

PROJECT1 Cycling Team

After just one season, Project1 Cycling Team is closing its doors—or, as the team states, “changing direction.” Launched as a British Cycling Elite Development Team in 2024, the squad aimed to help young riders progress to higher levels in cycling. It delivered on that promise, with four riders securing spots on higher-level teams by the year’s end.

Companies House records reveal it was run by the family of rider Jenson Brown, who has reportedly joined the Italian UCI Continental team MG.Kvis Colors For Peace. This family connection likely shaped the team’s purpose and decision to wind down after achieving its goal. Alongside Brown, Hamish Armitt has signed with UCI ProTeam Team Novo Nordisk, and Ben Marsh joins French DN3 outfit Team Apogé Charente-Maritime. A new collaboration with an Italian UCI team for 2025 hints at a continued focus on Brown’s career.

Project1’s closure feels like a natural conclusion rather than a failure. It fulfilled its mission of rider development and provided a stepping stone for its young talents, leaving a lasting impact despite its short tenure.

Raptor Factory Racing

Raptor Factory Racing is the standout new addition to the British domestic scene in 2025. Based in Putney, the team launches with a compact yet talent-packed roster of eight riders. The squad features UCI race winners, proven National Series champions, and rising local stars, blending experience with potential.

The team boasts three former Saint Piran riders: Rowan Baker, the 2024 U23 National Road Series champion and East Cleveland Classic winner; Dylan Hicks, a UCI stage winner at the Tour of Hellas; and Bradley Symonds, a seasoned Continental-level rider who will act as road captain. Adding further depth are Tom Heal, a past winner of the Jock Wadley Memorial Road Race, and Alex Franks, an under-23 standout whose comeback story underpins the team’s creation.

The roster also includes Archie Waller and Judicaël Clair, two developing talents focused on making their mark at the National A level. Joining the men’s squad is Charlotte Hodgkins-Byrne, a former Olympic rower turned cyclist who will combine her independent racing program with representing the team. The team is targeting National A races with aspirations for international racing later in the year.

Reflex Nopinz

Reflex Racing had a standout season in 2024, finishing 2nd (through Archie Peet) and 8th (Sam Nisbett) in the Under Open National Road Series and making an impact in Nat A and Nat B races across the country. Building on this success, the team has secured co-title sponsorship from Nopinz for 2025, marking the British clothing brand’s return as a title sponsor of a road racing team after several years.

Renamed Reflex Nopinz Race Team, the squad will now operate two divisions for the first time: a national race team, strengthened by the addition of several Cat 1 riders to enhance its domestic and international racing calendar, and a development/club Team, featuring competitive masters riders, including multiple world champions, alongside emerging young talent aiming to progress to the national team. The listing below shows the national race team only.

RIBBLE REBELLION

RIBBLE REBELLION was set up in March 2024 by Ribble Cycles. The Preston-based company aimed to “disrupt the global crit circuit,” assembling a roster of top riders, including team captain Joe Laverick, former British National Criterium Champion Matt Bostock, and UCI road race winner Jim Brown.

Despite a strong showing in events across the USA, Canada, and the UK—winning the National Circuit Series team title—the squad will not continue in 2025. While reasons for the closure remain unclear, the decision leaves several riders without contracts, marking another setback for the British racing scene.

RideRevolution

RideRevolution, the British domestic team founded by Jake Hales, has revealed its 2025 squad, blending seasoned performers with exciting new talent. Headlining the new signings is Harry Macfarlane, the newly crowned British hill climb champion, whose climbing expertise and a strong 7th-place finish at the East Cleveland Classic mark him as one to watch. Joining him are Joe Adlam-Cook, an under-23 prospect from Cambridge University CC, Alex Pickering, a breakout rider and winner of the Sherpa Performance Stage Race, and James Ambrose Parish, a dual-discipline athlete who claimed two Nat B road race victories in 2024.

The returning lineup, which forms the backbone of the team, includes Clay Davies, fourth in the national road race rankings, and Daniel McDermott, whose 6th place at the Rás Tailteann showcased his resilience on international roads. national masters champions Gav Howell and Matt Bailey also return, alongside Blake Roberts, Caleb Pain, Cameron Still, Adam Robertson, Gabriel Taylor, Matt Wilson, Bob McGlue, and Hales himself, who continues to balance his dual role as racer and team manager.

With an ambitious race calendar including Belgium, the Rás Mumhan, and potential French stage races, Hales is confident about the team’s progression. Alongside the elite squad, a restructured development programme will nurture ten second-category riders, with a proven pathway to the top. “Four of our elite team for 2024 started in the development team. It’s proof that the structure works,” says Hales. 2025 promises to be a pivotal year for RideRevolution as it continues to balance ambition with sustainability.

Schils – Doltcini RT

Schils-Doltcini Racing Team returns for 2025 with an expanded roster and an ambitious international calendar, balancing its grassroots origins with global aspirations. Based in Essex and managed by former professional Patrick Schils, the team continues to provide a unique platform for riders to compete in UCI races across the world, with a focus on regions outside traditional cycling strongholds.

This year’s lineup features an exciting mix of talent, headlined by Commonwealth Games medallist Will Roberts, the former Saint Piran rider adding firepower to the squad. Returning riders such as Archie Cross, a Tour Of Mauritius winner in 2023, bolster the team’s depth, while a host of young recruits signal a commitment to rider development.

The team’s heritage of racing on the periphery – from Asia to South America and beyond – has established it as a proving ground for riders seeking to challenge themselves on a global stage.

Stolen Goat RT

The Hampshire-based team began in 2013 and is currently backed by clothing brand Stolen Goat. The team’s men’s squad had an excellent 2024 season with Gabe Dellar collecting four National B road race wins and Thomas Heal and Ollie Hurdle also performing strongly.

The off-season has seen some notable departures, with standout rider Gabe Dellar, who secured four National B road race wins this year, moving on to the bolstered Primera-TeamJobs setup. Another key member, Ollie Hurdle, will step away from racing to pursue a new career as a doctor. Both riders leave big shoes to fill, but the team has already lined up some exciting new signings to take on the mantle.

Among the new recruits, Jack Bartholomew stands out with a unique background. A successful motorsport athlete, he has competed at the highest levels with Aston Martin, Porsche, and Lamborghini in GT racing. His transition to cycling has been remarkably swift, with a podium finish in only his third race. Another eye-catching signing is Stephen Bradbury who returns to the team after several years away, bringing a wealth of experience from his time at UCI Continental outfits such as SwiftCarbon Pro Cycling, Vitus Pro Cycling, and Saint Piran.

TAAP Kalas, a stalwart in British domestic cycling, has unveiled its 2025 roster, blending seasoned athletes with emerging talents. The team retains key figures such as Ollie Hucks, their standout road racer from 2024, alongside dependable teammates including Henry Latimer, Harvey Stroh, and Cameron McLaren.

New additions include under-23 riders Elliott Colyer, who secured fifth place at the PNE National B Road Race in 2024, and Sam Kettlewell from Spirit TBW Stuart Hall Cycling. Hamish Strachan, with experience from Torres-Fernando Barcelo and Holdsworth Zappi, brings valuable European racing exposure to the squad. Departures include national hill climb champion Harry Macfarlane and two-time National B road race winner James Ambrose-Parish, both transitioning to RideRevolution.

Reflecting on the team’s ethos, owner Ryan Visser emphasizes creating an environment where riders can flourish across various disciplines, aiming to serve as a stepping stone toward continental teams. The 2024 season marked one of their most successful, with multiple National B victories, a national hill climb championship win, and the national paracycling tandem road race title, alongside top-10 finishes in National A races.

Prologue Junior Race Team

Yorkshire’s Prologue Junior Racing Team heads into its third season in 2025 with a mix of returning riders and fresh recruits. Under manager Glen Turnbull, the team has quickly established itself on both the UK and European circuits. Notable achievements in 2024 included Nathan Smith’s 2nd place in the National Road Race Championship and a stage win at the Bizkaiko Itzulia in Spain. With support from the Rayner Foundation’s Gateway Scheme, Prologue has been able to compete in prestigious UCI junior races across Europe, gaining valuable experience and consistently placing within the top 20.

For 2025, Prologue will see the return of riders Dan Kemp, James Ingham, and James Beagley, who each showed promise last season. New additions include Louis Herring, a Red Bull Junior Brothers Competition finalist, along with first-year juniors Zack Lowe and Mark Ketteringham. This blend of talent is aimed at taking on a busy calendar of domestic and European races, with the team hoping to build on last season’s momentum and achieve further success on the junior racing scene.
