Update: this race – along with the Eastern, Central and South East Region’s Women’s Road Race Championship – has been cancelled due to a lack of available Accredited Marshalls.
One of the final National B road races of the season, the Derek Lusher Memorial includes the added incentive of divisional championship honours.
An open National B road race organised by St Ives CC that doubles as the Eastern Regional Road Race Championships. The last edition of the race was won by Jack Rootkin-Gray.
Route
The race takes on 11 laps of the fast and flat 11.2km Monks Wood circuit, with a total length of 122 km. This is a race for the sprinters and strong men.
Riders to watch
A two-time National B road race winner this year, Clay Davies (Ride Revolution Coaching) is riding high in our national road race rankings, currently ranked fourth. His victories came at the Open National B and the CC Hackney road races were also on flat terrain and he’ll be one of the big favourites to add to his win tally this weekend. Davies is surrounded by a strong team including Jef Schils Memorial winner Gabriel Taylor and strong man Jake Hales, a regular at the pointy end of Nat Bs.
CAMS Ronde van Wymeswold | YBC x UON winner Ben Pease (Moonglu RT) will be another rider to watch, although his form is somewhat unknown having not raced on the road for a month. He’ll have back up from teammate William Taylor, a strong rider who had a stellar start to 2024.
Speaking of fast finishers Frank Longstaff (Schils-Doltcini) turned heads with his Cambridge Criterium win recently; his rivals will be wary of taking him to the line.

Maltese rider Bernard Galea (SPRNT) has been a consistent rider this season picking up several top tens, his best result being second in the Open National B road race that Davies won.
Finally Callum Laborde (Wheelbase CabTech Castelli) is a strong circuit racer who is well-suited to the terrain. He hasn’t quite pulled of a win this in a Nat B road race this year though; can that change on Sunday?
Finally, don’t overlook new Saint Piran signing Tom Williams. The Ryedale Grasscrete Grand Prix winner will be looking to impress as he begins his journey for the men in black.

James Ambrose-Parish (TAAP Kalas) is a fast finisher who, like Davies, has already won two Nat B road races this season. His wins came at the DAP CC Spring Road Race and the Andrews Trophy; he beat Davies on both occasions.
