British Continental teams confirmed for 2025 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women

The 2025 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women, running from 5 to 8 June, will feature a strong lineup of 18 teams, including all five British UCI Continental squads competing alongside 12 Women's WorldTour teams and one ProTeam

The 2025 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women is set to feature a high-quality field, with all five British UCI Continental teams – CJ O’Shea Racing, DAS – Hutchinson, Handsling Alba Development Road Team, Hess Cycling Team, and Smurfit Westrock Cycling Team – confirmed to compete alongside 12 Women’s WorldTour teams. This inclusion is particularly significant given the race’s recent revival and the competitive selection criteria for Women’s WorldTour races that prioritises top-tier teams.

After a hiatus in 2023 due to financial difficulties and the liquidation of former organiser SweetSpot, British Cycling took over the event – formerly called the Women’s Tour – rebranding it as the Tour of Britain Women in 2024. The 2024 edition marked the race’s return to the UCI Women’s WorldTour calendar, albeit with a reduced four-day format.

In total, thirteen of the world’s top fifteen ranked teams, according to the latest UCI world rankings as of 22nd April, will participate in the race. The line-up is headlined by defending champions and world number one ranked squad, Team SD Worx – Protime. Lotte Kopecky, who clinched the 2024 title, leads the team, bringing her exceptional form back to British roads. Joining them is the Team Picnic PostNL, featuring British national champion Pfeiffer Georgi, and the Lidl-Trek team, which includes last year’s runner-up Anna Henderson and former winner Lizzie Deignan.

Jonathan Day, Managing Director of British Cycling Events, highlighted the significance of this development: “We are thrilled to have such a great line-up of UCI Women’s WorldTour teams… but it will be fantastic to once again see all our British registered women’s UCI Continental teams racing in a prestigious event on home roads.”

The presence of British Continental teams not only enriches the competition but also offers invaluable exposure and experience, fostering the growth of women’s cycling within the UK.

Bob Lyons, Team Manager of the Handsling Alba Development Road Team, expressed the importance of the race for domestic teams: “The Lloyds Tour of Britain Women is an extremely important race for us, as it is the only WorldTour race on our calendar on home soil and the only chance to really showcase the team in the UK. We spend an incredible amount of time overseas during the season, so it is a great opportunity for our UK-based sponsors and supporters to be involved and see the team racing. The race is even more special to us this year, given we are a Scottish-based team, as we will have two stages in Scotland. It is very exciting to be able to race in front of a home crowd on roads familiar to the team, riders, and followers.”

As revealed last week, the 2025 race, scheduled from 5 to 8 June, will traverse stages in North Yorkshire, the Tees Valley, the Scottish Borders, and Glasgow.
