Thank you, Le Col

For the past 19 months, Le Col’s support has been nothing short of transformative for The British Continental. Their backing didn’t just keep the lights on—it allowed us to shine a spotlight on every National B race and above, giving domestic road racing the coverage it deserves

It’s often said that title sponsorship is the lifeblood of a cycling team. The same holds true for an independent media platform like The British Continental. Without it, the race still goes on, but the margins are thinner, the effort greater, the reach smaller.

For the past 19 months, The British Continental has had the privilege of Le Col’s support as title sponsor. And make no mistake—it has been transformative. Their backing didn’t just place a logo at the top of the page; it powered everything we do. It kept the site running, the social media buzzing, the in-depth interviews happening, the podcast recording, and the race previews and reports flowing. Most importantly, it ensured that every single National B race and above had a spotlight, giving domestic road racing—so often overlooked—the exposure it deserves.

This support has meant reporters at races, travel costs covered, overheads met, and—where possible—content creators compensated. While The British Continental remains a community-run endeavour, Le Col’s backing has helped us recognise the immense value of the writers, photographers, and contributors who bring the domestic scene to life. It has ensured that British road racing has had a dedicated, independent voice at a time when it has never been more necessary.

In 2024 alone, we doubled our web traffic. That’s not just a statistic—it’s proof of growing interest, of a sport that continues to inspire, and of a domestic scene that, despite its challenges, still has an audience that cares.

In cycling, we are all too aware of how rare and precious cash sponsorship is. Teams have folded for the lack of it, races have vanished from the calendar, riders have been forced to step away. Le Col’s support has allowed us to do more than just exist—it has helped us thrive. And in turn, we hope that the exposure we’ve been able to provide has given teams, races, and riders the platform they need to secure their own futures.

So today, as our partnership as title sponsor comes to an end, we want to say this: Thank you, Le Col. It’s goodbye, but certainly not farewell.
