Rob Scott continued his remarkable winning streak for WiV SunGod as he stormed to victory at the penultimate National Circuit Series round of the year at the Fort Vale Colne Grand Prix.
The team secured a one-two, as Jake Scott continued his own impressive string of results by out-sprinting Josh Giddings (Team Inspired) on the final lap.

Race report
Despite a reduced peloton with some still recovering from the trip across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man and others – notably national circuit champion Matt Bostock (WiV SunGod) who has now joined up with the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games squad – focusing on other goals, the action was intense from the very start.
WiV SunGod was the driving force on the front of the race once again, with Team Inspired doing their level best to give them a run for their money. Barnsley Town Centre Races winner Jake Scott (WiV SunGod) was the first to clip off the front of the bunch, quickly joined by Team Inpsired’s Jack Rootkin-Gray, although both were reeled back in.

After numerous small attacks, the decisive move came as Rob Scott and Josh Giddings (Team Inspired) were joined by Spectra Wiggle p/b Vituss Ben Chilton to power clear of a fractious bunch behind.
With the trio’s pace relentless, Chilton was eventually dropped, but was quickly replaced by Jake Scott, back for more after his early move.
WiV SunGod has become accustomed to using its numerical advantage to full effect this season, and there was no exception here. Going full gas round the Colne circuit, Rob Scott waited until the last lap to break clear and soloed to yet another remarkable win – his sixth big win of the year and his first in a National Circuit Series. A late solo move from the break is starting to become Scott’s signature move.
Jake Scott took second, eight seconds back on Rob Scott and two clear of Giddings having opened up a few bike lengths on the drag to the line.
Callum Thornley (Wheelbase CabTech Castelli) was fastest of the sprinting bunch behind, two seconds down on Giddings and agonisingly close to a podium.
The final round of the National Circuit Series is on Friday 29 July with the Newark Town Centre races.
WiV SunGod now has the National Circuit Series team win sewn up. The only question remains which one of the team’s riders will win the individual classification. Jake Scott leads, 15 points ahead of his namesake Rob, with Jim Brown a further three points back. Thornley – in fourth on 82 points – is the only other rider that has a mathematical chance of finishing in the top three in the standings.
