The women’s Wren Kitchens Beverley Grand Prix, the final round of the National Circuit Series took place under fine weather conditions, attracting enthusiastic crowds. The race, featuring 59 starters, was characterised by a tense, attritional battle from start to finish.

From the outset, the DAS-Hutchinson-Brother UK and Alba Development Road Team squads asserted their dominance at the front of the peloton. Sophie Lewis, Frankie Hall, and Lucy Lee from DAS-Hutchinson-Brother UK, as well as National Circuit Series leader Eilidh Shaw, Keira Bond, and Beth Morrow from Alba Development Road Team, were prominent in the early stages, with Sam Fawcett (Spectra Racing) and Amy Perryman (Tekkerz CC) were also visible in the mix.
Despite the high pace set by these teams, the peloton remained largely intact through the first 10 laps, with around 35 riders still bunched together. The aggressive pace seemed to deter any significant breakaway attempts. At the halfway point, 31 riders were still in contention, but the toll of the relentless speed began to show as gaps started to appear at the front, though no decisive splits occurred.
With 8 laps remaining, Robyn Clay (DAS-Hutchinson-Brother UK) launched a bold attack, quickly joined by Series leader Eilidh Shaw. Their effort momentarily created a slender two-second lead, but the vigilant peloton reeled them back in.

By the time 5 laps were left, the field had slimmed to 29 riders, with Shaw maintaining a near-constant presence in the top three, visibly determined to clinch the Series. Frankie Hall made a valiant effort to break free with 3 laps to go, but the alert peloton kept her in check.
The final lap saw a tremendous effort from Keira Bond, who delivered a massive turn at the front to set up Shaw for a potential third win in the Series. However, it was Sophie Lewis, the victor of the previous round at the Fort Vale Colne Grand Prix, who once again demonstrated her formidable sprinting prowess. Lewis powered across the finish line ahead of Shaw, securing a well-deserved victory. Junior rider Lucy Glover rounded out the podium with an impressive third-place finish.

Sixty-one riders lined up for the open race, with Series leader Rob Scott aiming to defend his 18-point lead over his Series rival Matt Bostock and from the outset, the race featured prominent displays from their respective squads, Tekkerz CC and Ribble Rebellion.

Early moves from riders like Callum Laborde (Wheelbase CabTech Castelli) created small gaps, signalling a more dynamic race might unfold compared to the women’s event earlier in the evening.
The race took a significant turn on the 9th lap when Bostock launched a fierce attack, closely followed by Scott’s teammate Alec Briggs. This daring move quickly paid off, and by the end of the 11th lap, Bostock had established a ten-second gap with Briggs still marking him. Behind them, Wheelbase CabTech Castelli led the chase, while the vigilant Scott stayed near the front.

As the laps progressed, the gap grew to 21 seconds and held steady for several laps. This changed with 35 minutes elapsed, when Will Roberts (Saint Piran) made a bold solo attempt to bridge the gap. Roberts’ effort was successful, creating a leading trio, but the persistent efforts of Wheelbase CabTech Castelli reduced the bunch’s deficit to just five seconds with 37 minutes on the clock, making the catch seem inevitable.
With less than ten minutes to go and the light fading, the race was back together with 28 riders still in main bunch. Thomas Armstrong (Wheelbase CabTech Castelli), fourth in the Series standings, attacked with five minutes remaining, creating a small gap. Sensing an opportunity, Tom Couzens (Ribble Rebellion) joined Armstrong, and together they built an 11-second lead. However, with 3 laps to go, their advantage was halved, and as the bell rang for the final lap, the peloton, led by Ribble Rebellion, was closing in.

In a dramatic finish, Bostock, seemingly recovered from his time out front, demonstrated his sprinting prowess to claim his fourth Series win, with his teammate Jim Brown securing second place. Briggs rounded out the podium in third.
Crucially, Series leader Rob Scott finished sixth, enough to seal his overall victory in the National Circuit Series my a slim 8 point margin over his rival Bostock.
The results confirmed Ribble Rebellion as the Series’ team champions, with Wheelbase CabTech Castelli and Tekkerz CC completing the top three.
