Host Venues Announced for 2024 Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men

The 2024 Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men will cover six stages from Scottish Borders to Suffolk coast, featuring new host venues and organised by British Cycling.

The host venues for the 2024 Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men have been revealed. This year’s race will journey from the scenic Scottish Borders to the picturesque Suffolk coast, covering six stages.

2024 will be the 20th edition of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men, with the racing taking place from Tuesday 3rd to Sunday 8th September.

This year’s event is being organised by British Cycling for the first time. The change follows the liquidation of previous organisers SweetSpot, with British Cycling subsequently declaring its ambition to deliver men’s and women’s versions of the Tour of Britain. A four stage Tour of Britain Women was held in June this year.

The 2024 edition of the men’s race introduces three new host venues: Barnsley, Northampton, and Lowestoft. These fresh additions join the ranks of established favourites such as Kelso, Redcar and Felixstowe. Darlington and Sheffield are returning to the route for the first time in over 15 years.

The Route

Stage 1: Kelso (Tuesday, September 3)
The race kicks off in the Scottish Borders, with the first stage both starting and finishing in Kelso’s historic cobbled market square. This marks Kelso’s third time hosting.

Stage 2: Darlington to Redcar (Wednesday, September 4)
Stage two sees the tour crossing into England, starting in Darlington, host of this year’s national circuit race championships. The route includes the challenging Saltburn Bank climb – a key feature of the National Road Championships road race for the past two years – with a scenic finish on Redcar’s seafront.

Stage 3: Sheffield to Barnsley (Thursday, September 5)
Returning to South Yorkshire for the first time since 2007, stage three begins in Sheffield and concludes in Barnsley. While Barnsley is new to the tour, both towns have a rich history of hosting professional cycling events.

Stage 4: Details Pending (Friday, September 6)
Details of the stage four start and finish venues will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Stage 5: Northampton (Saturday, September 7)
Northampton will host the penultimate stage, a first for the men’s tour. Previously, Northampton has successfully hosted finishes for the Women’s Tour.

Stage 6: Lowestoft to Felixstowe (Sunday, September 8)
The final stage begins on Lowestoft’s promenade, marking its debut as a tour host. The race concludes in Felixstowe, where last year’s dramatic stage victory by Wout van Aert set the stage for his overall win. The roads in Suffolk are well-known to the peloton, adding to the anticipation of a thrilling finale.
