Lorena Wiebes of Team SD Worx – Protime secured her second consecutive victory in this year’s UCI Women’s WorldTour Ford RideLondon Classique, winning Stage Two in Maldon. The Dutch cyclist, who also claimed victory in the first stage in Colchester, was once again on a 143km route the begun and finished in the historic Essex town.
The stage concluded with a reduced bunch sprint, where Wiebes once again showcased her superior speed. She edged out last year’s RideLondon Classique champion, Charlotte Kool of Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL, who took second place. World champion Lotte Kopecky, also from Team SD Worx – Protime, completed the podium in third after leading out her teammate.

Wiebes’ back-to-back wins have given her a provisional 20-second lead as the race heads into the third and final stage in central London. She gained 10 bonus seconds with today’s victory and an additional six seconds from the queen of the mountains competition. In an all-encompassing performance, Wiebes also leads the sprints competition.
Rebecca Koerner, the Danish champion from Uno-X Mobility, is poised to claim the queen of the mountains title. Despite not scoring any points today, her nine points from stage one are likely to secure her the classification victory, provided she finishes tomorrow’s stage.
The final stage involves a 91km route that starts and finishes on The Mall. Riders will complete eight laps in the heart of London. With Wiebes in commanding form, she will be the rider to watch as the 2024 RideLondon Classique reaches its climax.
