The UCI has revealed the 2021 calendars for the UCI WorldTour and UCI Women’s WorldTour.
It’s good news for the women’s calendar in the UK. The Women’s Tour will once again return, running for six days from 7 to 12 June. The RideLondon Classique – which had been demoted in the 2020 calendar to 1.Pro level – returns to the Women’s WorldTour with a new position on the calendar, neatly placed a week before the Women’s Tour on 30 May.
Unfortunately, the UCI says that the organisers of the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic have not requested to register their event on the 2021 UCI WorldTour calendar. The UCI says it “will work with concerned parties towards trying to ensure the return to the leading series for men’s professional road cycling of events taking place” in the UK.
The organisers of the RideLondon-Surrey Classic and RideLondon Classique had announced in January that Prudential would end its title sponsorship of the event in 2020 and that they were looking for new financial backers for 2021.
