Scottish Nationals claim August slot as Alba and Scotia Series lose planned finale
Scottish Cycling has confirmed the Scottish National Road Race Championships will take place on 22 August 2026 in Strathaven. The decision removes the Drummond Trophy from the Alba and Scotia Series, meaning both competitions now finish earlier than planned.
Scottish Cycling has revealed that the Scottish National Road Race Championships will take place on Saturday 22 August 2026, using the Strathaven circuit traditionally associated with the Drummond Trophy.
The decision reshapes the end of the 2026 domestic season. With the championships occupying the late-August slot, the Drummond Trophy will no longer act as the shared finale for the Alba and Scotia Series, as previously announced. Instead, both competitions will conclude a month earlier, trimming one round from each series.
The change stands in contrast to 2025, when the Scottish National Road Race Championships were held on 5 May, using the Rosneath Peninsula circuit more commonly associated with the Hugh Dornan Memorial Road Race.

With the Drummond Trophy removed from series contention, the end points of both championships are now fixed earlier in the calendar.
The Alba Series, which runs at National B level, will now conclude on 25 July with the Sam Robinson Road Race, elevating that event to decisive status within the standings. The Scotia Series, traditionally contested at Regional A level, will finish on the same weekend at the Pippa Handley Road Race, which becomes the final scoring opportunity for riders in the developmental series.
The Drummond Trophy will still be run on 22 August, but solely as the Scottish National Road Race Championships rather than as a series round.
Sam Chisholm and Lulu Bartlett claimed the Scottish national road race titles in 2025 on the Rosneath Peninsula circuit. Their successors will be crowned on South Lanarkshire roads next August, on a circuit with its own long association with Scottish championship racing.
