Moonglu Spatzwear confirm nine-rider squad as Yorkshire team consolidates for 2026
From mid-season signings and National B wins to a deliberate move towards consolidation, Moonglu Spatzwear enter 2026 with a smaller, settled squad — and the confidence of a team that has already shown it can deliver.
Moonglu Spatzwear have confirmed a nine-rider roster for the 2026 season, signalling a move towards consolidation after a year in which the Yorkshire-based programme delivered some of its most visible results to date.
In a team update issued this week, Moonglu Spatzwear said the focus for 2026 remains unchanged: supporting racing, developing riders and protecting the culture that has defined the project since its formation in 2022. The team described itself as “a race team first and foremost”, built around competitiveness and a close-knit atmosphere.
Founded as a development pathway for riders emerging from Moonglu Cycling Club, the squad has steadily strengthened its presence within the domestic peloton. That progress was already evident when the team expanded its roster for 2025, and was underlined as the season unfolded.
A defining moment came in May, when Jack Hartley joined the team after racing in France. He made an immediate impact, winning the G A Bennett Road Race in Moonglu Spatzwear colours, one of the standout National B performances of the year. William Taylor also enjoyed a productive season with the team, including victory at the Andrew Matheson Memorial Trophy Road Race and a series of consistent rides across National B events and stage racing.

For 2026, Moonglu Spatzwear have opted to trim the roster back to nine riders after operating with a larger squad last season. The reshaped line-up marks the end of the road for several riders who formed part of the programme during its most expansive phase in 2025. Alex Luhrs, Carl Stubbs, William Taylor, Conor McKinnon, Jamie Philpott and Dean Watson will not continue with the team into the new season.
In the press release, the team framed the decision as one of consolidation rather than retrenchment, emphasising stability and continuity at a time when several domestic programmes have stepped back. With a number of riders now established at National B and series level, the focus has shifted towards maintaining a smaller, settled core.
That core includes Jonny Britton, Jack Hartley, Joel Hurt and Ben Pease, along with Ross Birrell, Ben Mewes, Jack Rees and Joe Turnbull. Former Ribble Rebellion rider Max Lutz-Atkinson is the team’s sole new signing.
According to the team, Moonglu Spatzwear will again target the National Road Series alongside a selective programme of National B events in 2026, with further partner announcements expected over the coming weeks.
