Lloyds Tour of Britain Men 2025: nine WorldTeams confirmed as Britain fields no men’s UCI Continental squad for the first time
The 2025 Lloyds Tour of Britain Men will welcome nine WorldTeams—including UAE Team Emirates-XRG in its UK debut—yet, for the first time since the race’s 2004 relaunch, no British-registered men’s UCI Continental squad will feature.
Organisers of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men have named a 19-team start list for this year’s race, which rolls out from Woodbridge, Suffolk, on Tuesday 2 September. The line-up features nine UCI WorldTeams – the highest number since 2019 – and includes the UK debut of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, currently ranked first in the UCI standings.
For the first time since the modern Tour of Britain was relaunched in 2004, the race will not include a British-registered men’s UCI Continental team. The absence follows the closures of Saint Piran, announced last November, and TRINITY Racing’s road programme, confirmed earlier the same month. Their departures left no British men’s Continental squads on the UCI register for 2025.
The six-day race opens with two Suffolk stages – Woodbridge → Southwold and a Stowmarket circuit – before visiting Milton Keynes, Ampthill and Warwickshire, where a summit finish at Burton Dassett Country Park is scheduled. The finale comprises two stages in south Wales: a Queen Stage featuring a double ascent of The Tumble on Saturday 6 September, and a Newport-to-Cardiff leg on Sunday 7 September.
