National Road Championships to be held in Wales through to 2027

British Cycling has confirmed that the National Road Championships will be held in Wales for the next three years, beginning with a 2025 edition based in Ceredigion

British Cycling has announced that the National Road Championships will take place in Wales for the next three years, as part of a new agreement with the Welsh Government. The deal, described as “landmark” by the governing body, will see the championships run in Wales from 2025 through to 2027.

The first edition under the new agreement will be held in Ceredigion, a county with a growing association with elite-level cycling. Home to riders such as Josh Tarling, the current British time trial champion, and Flèche Wallonne winner Stevie Williams, Ceredigion has previously hosted stages of the Tour of Britain and is known for its coastal roads and quiet lanes.

Racing in 2025 will take place over three days, with the time trial scheduled for Thursday 26 June, the circuit race on Friday 27 June, and the road race on Sunday 29 June. All three events will be centred around Aberystwyth.

The news comes shortly after confirmation that the UK will host the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in 2027.

The championships have been rebranded as the Lloyds National Road Championships, following the financial services firm’s recent partnership agreement with British Cycling.

No details have yet been released for the 2026 and 2027 editions beyond the commitment that they will remain in Wales.
