2024 Ford RideLondon Classique: stage 3 report and results

Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx - Protime) won stage 3 of the Ford RideLondon Classique, Sunday 26 May

Lorena Wiebes of Team SD Worx – Protime showcased her unrivaled prowess in the UCI Women’s WorldTour 2024 Ford RideLondon Classique by clinching the third and final stage in London today. This victory not only secured her a hat-trick of stage wins at this year’s event but also the overall general classification title.

In a thrilling sprint finish on The Mall, with the iconic Buckingham Palace as a backdrop, Wiebes powered across the line ahead of Charlotte Kool (Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL) and her teammate, reigning world champion Lotte Kopecky. The 91km final stage featured eight high-speed laps of a central London circuit, providing a spectacular conclusion to the race.

Wiebes’s triumph today extends her remarkable unbeaten streak at the Ford RideLondon Classique. She first tasted victory at the event in 2019 when it was a one-day race and repeated the feat by winning all three stages in 2022, a performance she has now replicated in 2024.

In addition to her stage and overall victories, Wiebes claimed the Sprints Classification. Danish champion Rebecca Koerner (Uno-X Mobility) also had reason to celebrate, as she safely finished in the peloton to secure the Queen of the Mountains classification.

Charlotte Kool, who won the Ford RideLondon Classique last year, finished second overall in the general classification, trailing Wiebes by 25 seconds. Lotte Kopecky rounded out the podium, just one second further back.
