National Road Championships to make Tees Valley return

The British National Road Championships are returning to Tees Valley and North Yorkshire, with time trial, circuit races, and road races scheduled from June 19-23.

British Cycling has announced that the British National Road Championships are set to make a return to Tees Valley and North Yorkshire this year. This announcement comes as part of a strategic partnership with the Tees Valley Combined Authority, aimed at enhancing cycling and tourism within the region.

The region successfully hosted the 2023 championships, which culminated with Pfeiffer Georgi and Fred Wright being crowned as national road champions on the iconic Saltburn Bank.

The competition continues with the circuit races on Friday, 21 June, in the heart of Darlington town centre—a locale with a rich history of cycling, having hosted the start of two stages of the Tour of Britain in 2008 and 2009. Defending champions Megan Barker and Ollie Wood are set to battle it out to retain their titles, following their memorable victories in Redcar last year.

The climax of the championship will be the road races on Sunday, 23 June, starting and finishing in the picturesque setting of Saltburn. The course for this year has been slightly altered from 2023, offering fewer climbs but retaining its scenic charm and challenging terrain.
