2023 National Circuit Series: new round, southern round reveal, new circuit

A round-up of a flurry of National Circuit Series news

In welcome news earlier this week, British Cycling announced an additional round of the 2023 National Circuit Series, the Dudley Grand Prix, while details of a new circuit for the Sheffield Grand Prix emerged.

Dudley and Guildford join the circus

The Dudley Grand Prix will be held on 14 July and will feature both a men’s and a women’s race. The circuit’s epicentre will be a technical one, centred around Priory Road, The Broadway and the Coronation Gardens roundabout. The organisers say that a combination of food stalls, music and commentary should create a warm, vibrant Friday night atmosphere.

Confirmation of the event follows last week’s announcement that Guildford will host the previously unconfirmed third round of the series on Wednesday 5 July. The Guildford Town Centre Races is a longstanding and successful event and adds a much-needed southern round to the Series too.

The addition of Dudley means that the Series is bigger than it was last year, when it consisted of 6 rounds for the men and 4 for the women; welcome news in a year when the Tour Series and Women’s Tour have been postponed.
