A bonus round-up of the latest team news

Richardsons-Trek back for more

The men’s elite team Richardsons-Trek have confirmed they will be back in 2021. Andy Lyons, manager of the team backed by the Leigh-on-Sea bike shop Richardsons Cycles, has told us that the team with the striking orange Rapha jerseys will back on the starting line next year, in much the same format as previous years.

The team’s 2021 line up will remain exactly the same as 2020, except they hope to recruit one more rider to take the squad up to 12 riders. They will retain the same sponsors and we will be supporting the domestic racing calendar, along with races in Belgium and France.

We can also reveal that one of their squad members will be a journal contributor for us next year. More on that next month.

Saint Piran close to confirming UCI Continental status?

We’d already highlighted on Twitter and in our domestic team guide that Saint Piran might be stepping up to UCI Continental level. But now Saint Piran seem to be close to confirming things, with Team Principal Ricci Pascoe posting up images on Twitter displaying the official UCI Continental logo…

Nopinz announce new title sponsor

The Nopinz team will have a new title sponsor for 2021, meaning their name will change from Nopinz Symec to Nopinz Motip. We don’t know much about their 2021 new squad yet, with just two riders – James Ashcroft and Tom Nancarrow – so far publicly so far. Our journal contributor Red Walters left the team earlier this and has announced he’ll ride for CC Plancoët next year.

Bikestrong-KTM squad nearly complete

The Bikestrong-KTM team have been revealing their new riders over on Instagram. Their squad is nearly in place now with the arrival of Welsh cyclocross champion Cai Davies. We’re expecting one or two further additions to be announced soon.

Men’s UCI Continental team news

We’ve had a few more clues as to the make-up of the men’s UCI Continental teams in 2021. The big news, of course, is the closure of the Vitus Pro Cycling p/b Brother squad, as we revealed yesterday.

Earlier today Canyon dhb p/b Soreen’s Mark Christian and Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling’s John Archibald were announced as new signings for the EOLO-Kometa, the Pro Conti project run by Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso.

And in interviews with Velo Veritas, Thomas Mein confirmed he would stay with Canyon dhb p/b Soreen and Cameron Mason revealed he would continue on Trinity Racing’s road team, rumoured to be stepping up to Continental level in 2021.
